Children and adolescents needing residential treatment frequently have a history of unsuccessful outpatient treatment, including individual and family services. Most have severely low self-esteem and are having extreme difficulty in their relationships with parents, authority figures, and peers.

Habberton House at Ozark Guidance offers structure, stability, and long-term care essential to address these difficulties. Experienced professionals help children and their families age 8-17 understand their problems, find real solutions to difficult problems, and develop coping skills. The goal at Habberton House is to help youth integrate their newly developed skills back into the family, school, and community settings.

Family therapy is one of the most important aspects of treatment at Habberton House. The interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and residential specialists works closely with families from the time a resident enters the program to create positive relationships. Helping to change current family patterns allows the residents to maintain progress they made while in the program.

Habberton House provides a state accredited education program. Licensed teachers develop individualized education goals for each resident that includes academic, creative, and physical pursuits meant to challenge the resident to strengthen themselves.
